What you need to know before zip lining in Columbus, Ohio
Are there age restrictions?
For the sake of safety there are restrictions for going on the tour. Riders must be a minimum of 7 years old and weigh 50 lbs. The maximum allowable weight on the tour is 270 lbs.
What are the weight restrictions?
In order to zip line, riders must be a minimum 50 lbs. and can weigh no more than 270 lbs. This restriction is put in place based on the speed of the zip line, not the amount the cables can hold. They can hold a lot more than that—try 26,000 lbs! We are able to accommodate riders as light as 50 lbs. utilizing our tandem zip line system.
Are there health restrictions?
You should be prepared for some light physical activity like climbing stairs, crossing bridges, walking short distances over uneven terrain, and lifting up to 10 lbs.
Anyone with the following conditions should consult a physician to determine whether or not it is appropriate to participate in a zip line tour:
- Heart conditions
- High blood pressure
- Neck and/or back issues
- Debilitating fear of heights
If you are pregnant, you will not be allowed to ride the zip lines.
No smoking, alcohol, or drug use is permitted at any time prior to or throughout the tour.
We are committed to make our tour as accessible as possible to our participants. While there are certain restrictions that have been put in place to protect the public, we are often able to accommodate individuals outside of these parameters with advanced notice and approval by the tour manager.
ZipZone is not obligated to complete a tour if participants are found to be endangering the safety of themselves, others, or the environment. Refunds will not be given in these situations.
I have a reservation and it is raining, or calling for rain, what do I do?
We love Ohio, but depending on the day we may or may not love the weather. Ohio weather is very hard to predict, so we tend to make the call as close to the tour time as possible. We do run tours in light rain, and based on that we compare zipping to golf. If people would keep golfing in the weather, we will keep zipping. So, if there is extreme weather like storms, high winds or heavy rain we will cancel the tour, but in light to moderate rain we will still run the tour. Dress for the weather, and if you need it, we do have ponchos at the tour.
Do kids need to be supervised?
For all minors 15 years old or younger, an adult must be on the property for the duration of the tour. For any minor 12 and under an adult must accompany children on the zip line tour. Please call if you have questions.
Do I need to make a reservation?
Yes. All guests need to make a reservation. Make a reservation here. We will try to accommodate walk-ins based on availability, but it is always easier to reserve a spot online before arriving at the tour.

Do I need to sign a waiver?

What if I am afraid of heights?
Don’t worry! Most people say zip lining is not as scary as they thought it would be! Our canopy tour is designed to progress from shorter slower lines to longer, faster, higher lines to keep you comfortable. Our certified guides are professionally trained to keep you safe throughout the tour. Each piece of equipment, as well as the tour is inspected daily to insure it is all in proper working order. We embrace the “Challenge by Choice” philosophy, so you can be sure you will not be forced to do anything you don’t want to do.
Is it safe?
ClimbWorks, a leading canopy tour construction company, constructed the course. The tour was built following the leading standards in the industry developed by the Association of Challenge Course Technology (ACCT). All guides have been trained by Get a Grip Adventures, LLC to meet or exceed ACCT standards. We do everything we can to make this the best experience possible! Did we mention the cables are tested to hold 26,000 lbs.?
ZipZone is a founding member of the Ohio Zip Line Association (OZLA), a group working together with the Ohio State Department of Agriculture, Amusement Ride Safety Division as state regulations are developed for zip lining. One of our owners, Lori Pingle, is the President of the Board of the OZLA and is on the Zip Line/Canopy Tour committee for the ACCT. We are working hard to stay at the forefront of standards and regulations in our industry.
