When those temperatures start to plummet, many Buckeyes reach for a blanket and the remote. Yet not only is ZipZone still open through November, but other energizing local experiences abound! From nighttime zoo fun to yoga in the woods to cheering on local teams, Columbus will keep you moving all season long.
Soar into Autumn
Hiding in plain sight within Columbus is the natural beauty that houses ZipZone Canopy Tours, our zip lining tour experience located at Camp Mary Orton. ZipZone offers different zip lining experiences for every taste, including a leisurely two-hour adventure above the changing leaves, or a “zip rush” experience that allows you to rappel or have a free fall experience from a secured platform. This will be your last chance to zip this year as we are are currently offering zip line tours on the weekends from November 13th – November 27th. And don’t miss the chance to take in the last Full Moon Tour of the season, which is set for Nov. 11 and 12.
Park Your Worries
The Columbus Metroparks system has a wide range of events planned at their various locations. Look for weekday programs like nature adventures for preschoolers, and homeschooler hikes to learn about squirrel species and how they store nuts for the winter. Weekends bring activities like Yoga in the Park and interpretive family hikes. Several of the parks are also offering evening lantern strolls this fall. A few classes require pre-registration, so make sure to check the Metroparks website for details.
Puck-er Up to Hockey
Nothing says autumn in Ohio like a Columbus Blue Jackets game. The Jackets kicked off their seasons in October, and there are plenty of opportunities to hit up a home game at Nationwide Arena throughout the fall. And it’s a great way to spend family time, according to a recent national survey of NHL fans. Blue Jackets games scored high marks in overall game day satisfaction, food and beverages, security, efficient arrival and departures and special events.
Head to the Horseshoe
Fall is also special for fans of Ohio State Football. The Buckeyes wrap up their regular NCAA season in late November, but they still have plenty more games ahead, including several home games at Ohio Stadium. So throw on your scarlet and gray sweater and head out to the Horseshoe to get your fresh air and football. Oh, and cheer for the Buckeyes to crush rivals like the Michigan Wolverines on their way to meet the Big 10 dream for 2016.
Be a Wild Thing
For a late fall adventure that will put you in the mood for the holidays, check out Columbus Zoo’s annual Wildlights display. The colorful nighttime events light up the already exciting, world-famous zoo with more than 3,000 twinkling lights. Walk through the magical space, see the animals in a new light, take part in family activities and even meet Santa Claus! Wildlights 2016 at Columbus Zoo kicks off on Nov. 18 and runs through Jan. 1.
There’s plenty of fun to be had in Columbus this fall. Don’t miss your chance to experience it with your family!
